The conduit on the right brings the 400 volt DC power from the solar panels into the DC disconnect box. Power then goes into the red inverter where the DC is converted to 220 volts AC. The solar meter then measures how much energy the solar system produces. Currently my power distributor pays me $0.15/kwh for all green power that produced. Afterwards, the meter power flows through the AC disconnect before going to the breaker box inside the house. The grid meter generally spins backward from about 10:00 am to about 4:00 pm when I am generating more power than my home is using.
