The original refrigerator was 22 cubic feet with ice and water dispensers in the door and over 10 years old. When I measured it's energy consumption I was shocked to find it used 130 kwh/month. Keep in mind my energy budget was only 300 kwh/month. So this one appliance was using over 1/3 of my energy budget. The old refrigerator was replaced with an 18 cubic foot model that now uses only 30 kWh/month. It was a great value at about $500.
