Future Plans

There are always more things I would like to try in order to reduce loads and become more sustainable. Some of my current wish list includes:

  1. Replacing the old kitchen range with an induction range
  2. Replacing the oven with a convection/microwave oven
  3. Installing radiant barrier in the attic to reduce summer attic heat and retain winter house heat
  4. Placing infrared reflective film on west windows to reduce summer heat gain from the afternoon sun. East windows are currently shaded by trees.
  5. The well pump uses 1 to 2 kWh/day. The well could be replaced or augmented with county water service. Power used to operate an ultraviolet light (UV) to purify well water could be reduced by finding a way to only run the UV light when the well pump is running.
  6. Adding wind generation.
  7. Adding a rainwater collection system
  8. Using some sort of desiccant system to reduce humidity
  9. Using solar AC
  10. Creating a seasonal heat storage system, with the possible use of phase shift material

... Let me know of others I should consider
