The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) is a volunteer board of renewable energy stakeholder representatives that includes representatives of the solar industry, NABCEP certificants, renewable energy organizations, state policy makers, educational institutions, and the trades. Each member of the board was chosen because of his or her experience and involvement in the solar energy industry. NABCEP’s mission–to support, and work with, the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, professionals, and stakeholders–is intended to develop and implement quality credentialing and certification programs for practitioners.

The city of Knoxville seeks to substantially increase the utilization of solar power through Solar Knoxville, Knoxville’s Solar America Cities effort. The initiative is helping build a sustainable solar infrastructure through a comprehensive, city-wide approach that facilitates mainstream adoption of solar power.

Since its founding, Knox Heritage has aimed to educate everyone about the benefits of historic preservation. It has acquired blighted houses that once were the worst examples of neglect and restored them to attractive homes, improving historic neighborhoods. It has helped secure funding for development projects that contribute to the revitalization of downtown.

The guidelines address the major elements of any green renovation project, including the site of the home, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, material and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
