2008 Open House at a Net Zero Energy Home
Part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour

If you are interested in solar technology and zero energy homes, please visit this 30 -year old house in Harriman, TN.  In the fall of 2005, the owners began renovations to convert it to a net ZEH (zero energy home).  This open house is an opportunity to talk to to the homeowner.   During renovations photovoltaic panels were installed to provide electricity, and a solar hot water system was added as well.  Changes are continually being made to increase the home's efficiency.  As a result, this home has produced more power than it has consumed since April 2006.  No utility bills have been paid since April 2006, and the current utility bill is negative.  Learn more about this ZEH renovation.
